Laser or Electrolysis?
Laser treatments uses highly concentrated light to destroy the hair follicle while electrolysis uses a an electric current delivered through a fine probe. Which service is the right choice for you depends on several factors:
Area being treated: Laser is most often used for larger areas such as bikini line, legs, and underarms but is also an excellent option for upper lip hair.
Contrast between your hair color and skin tone: Laser can be effective for darker skin tones however it becomes even more vital to choose an experienced clinic for the best results. Our CCE/CCS certification is your assurance that AEL is experienced and trained in the highest safety and technology.
What to Expect with Laser?
The average person takes 6-8 treatments on most areas but your unique needs may be more or less. Treatments are usually scheduled 4-6 weeks apart. It is important not to miss your treatment appointments for best results. After your course of treatments, you will need to return 1 to 2 times annually for maintenance. Notify AEL if new medications are administered. Some medications such as antibiotics and/or vaccination may cause your treatment to be delayed.
The goal of laser hair removal, as in any cosmetic procedure, is improvement and not perfection. Your result may not be perfect and your number of treatments needed is dependent on your skin type, color, tan, hormones and hair color.
What to Expect with Electrolysis?
The total number of treatments needed to remove hair permanently from a specific area will vary from person to person. Most patients return weekly or bi-weekly as needed for 15 to 60 minute sessions. Treatments may continue for an average of one year, with the frequency declining as progress is made. Unwanted hair will be gone when your treatment is complete, however maintenance 1-2 times annually will be required for longterm satisfaction.
Cost?
Laser hair removal starts at $89 per treatment while electrolysis starts at $45 per treatment. The goal of laser hair removal, as in any cosmetic procedure, is improvement and not perfection.
